Dull one about a government agent looking into a shady deal to take over an airplane manufacturing company. Flash Gordon fans will spot Frank “Dr.Zarkov” Shannon in a bit part as Col.Hammond. Lyle Latell doesn’t work as comedy relief. He plays the agent’s chauffeur and valet. There’s an actress named Doris Day. She is not the singer.
Agent Captain James Madison (Neil “Commissioner Gordon” Hamilton) is in Washington. He thinks he recognizes the infamous Otto Lieberman. He was thought to have been killed in a plane crash that took the lives of eight people. Through fingerprints on a water glass he finds out that he’s right.
Lieberman, now calling himself Dr.Haskell, is cooking up a deal with Bruce Lane to get control of Henry Gregory’s airplane company. Haskell tells Gregory he’ll buy fifty-one percent. Gregory says he’ll have to consult his partner who is in California. Haskell wants the company because Gregory has invented a process using plastic for some airplane parts.
With Gregory’s cooperation, Madison masquerades as the partner, Robert Edmunds.. Lane sends his girl Rita Bennett (Doris Day) to entertain Madison while he’s in town. They have a great time. Lane wants Madison’s rooms searched. Rita gets Madison and Chuck out of the way. Lane’s boys find a file that shows Edmunds is really Madison.
Haskell says Madison has got to go and Lane reluctantly agrees. Only question is how to do it. Madison takes indigestion pills. Haskell makes up one with poison and manages to sneak it into Madison’s bottle.
The movie really gets stupid or should I say stupider from this point on. It won’t do much for your indigestion but it could take care of your insomnia. A total waste of time.
