Good one about a man who wants a presidential pardon for his brother. All he has to do is kill three drug lords.
Terry Burke is given the maximum for insider trading. His brother Tom is willing to do anything to get him out of prison. Tom is a former Ranger in Vietnam and spent five years in the CIA. Now he works for an advertising company and owns several acres of farmland.
Tom’s neighbor is Senator Newsome the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He admits the sentence was too harsh but he can’t influence the sentencing judge. So it’s not a total loss Tom meets the Senator’s daughter Claire.
Tom gets an offer. The President will pardon his brother if he kills three drug barons, one in Mexico, another in Switzerland and a globe trotting heroin millionaire. The President and his chief aide don’t know it, but Tom secretly recorded their meeting at Camp David. He agrees to the deal and takes the tape to a lawyer for safekeeping.
With everything agreed to, Tom goes to a training camp in New Mexico. He’s just about ready to go after target number one when the remote camp is invaded. He’s the only survivor. Now he heads to Mexico to take care of target number one.
There are a few interludes with Tom and Claire before more action sequences start. They can be a drag but they don’t interfere too much and it remains a good read for thriller fans. To go into a lot of detail would spoil the fun. If you’re offended by X-Rated sex the last section may give you pause but then you’d miss a great finish.
