The Veil (1958)

Boris Karloff hosted this one season only anthology series. It preceded One Step Beyond which aired 1959-1961. Both series dealt with alledgedly true psychic experiences. The problem is, how do you stretch a minute or less experience into a half-hour TV series.  No complaints about Boris. He was an effective host and particpant in the episodes.

One example of really stretching it, “The Girl On The Road.” A guy spots a girl beside a car that she says ran out of gas. The two have a drink together and the lines the actor had to say to try and impress the girl are a real squirm alert. A total embarassment. The ending is telegraphed almost from the beginning. Just awful. Not hard to figure out why it only lasted eleven episodes.

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
