About Face(Death About Face) (The Fatal Foursome)-Frank Kane (1947)

The first in the fun Johnny Liddell series. He’s with an agency in this one but goes his own way in 1951’s “Bullet Proof.” Johnny is the typical tough, New York City P.I. The fun of the series is that Johnny is a solid guy who does what he has to to get things done and doesn’t take any guff from anyone, the coppers or the hoods.  The series continued until “Margin For Terror” in 1967. The usual description of this series is,”lean.” That doesn’t mean bad.

For the curious, the other Ace novel in this double is:

This one is about P.I. Bob Ruff. He meets up with Police Lt. O’Malley at the scene of a murder. Ruff gives him his card. Let the sneering begin.

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
