Walt’s Workshop (1949)

One of TV’s first handyman shows. It was broadcast from Chicago. Walt Durbahn was a master carpenter but not exactly TV material. He had no sense of timing and was in dire need of a charisma transplant. You can watch this and laugh or sleep or maybe both.

Typical episode: Walt builds a sawhorse. That’s it for thirty minutes. He’ll show you exactly how to do it in his own droning way. He almost got it all done. If you missed anything by nodding off you could write to the station for a list of instructions. At the very end Walt was utterly confused and looked around wondering what was going on.

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
