The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin (1976-79)

the fall and rise of reginald perrin

Mildly amusing sitcom with Leonard Rossiter who fakes his own death as he tries to handle a midlife crisis. He has a boring life and works a boring job at Sunshine Deserts.

Opening episode:September 8,1976 – “Hippopotamus” – Reginald has the same routine every day. The company he works for is introducing a new line of exotic flavored ice creams to try and drum up new business. At a meeting with his boss, the overbearing C.J.,he spaces out and fantasizes about his secretary.

Back home his wife Elizabeth (Pauline Yates) says they’re going to visit her mother. He imagines a hippopotamus and eventually refers to her that way. Later in the week he decides to break routine but it doesn’t matter. He’s still bored and he badly wants a change. The episode has a funny bit with the company doctor. It ends with him screaming in frustration at his daily life.

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
