The Jane Froman Show (1952-55)

Jane Froman

Jane Froman

It started out as a half hour show called “USA Canteen” and later was cut to fifteen minutes. Jane was one of the most popular singers of the 30’s-50’s. Her life story was told in the 1952 movie “With A Song In My Heart” starring Susan Hayward. Of course Jane dubbed Susan’s voice.

This 1955 episodes theme is Bonnie Scotland. Jane opens with “It’s A Most Unusual Day.” Jane sings “You Must Be In Love” to a female guest named Jeannie who talks about her boyfriend Charlie. Then she does a Scottish song followed by Jeannie and her boyfriend Charlie singing and dancing to another Scottish song.

Jane sings “Moonlight Cocktails.”  Now a GE commercial. Jane is back and sings “Comin’ Through The Rye.”  Jane closes the show by plugging Ray Milland in “Meet Mister McNulty” coming up next.  She closes with her theme “With A Song In My Heart.”

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
