Term Limits-Vince Flynn (1997)

vince flynn-term limits

One of the best thrillers of the 90’s. I found myself putting things off so I could spend time with this large book. This was the late Flynn’s first and only stand alone novel and then he went into his fourteen book series about terrorist hunter Mitch Rapp of the CIA. The last book was finished by Kyle Mills.

Rather than go into a long synopsis which could spoil surprises along the way I’ll just mention the essential storyline.

An unknown group has had it with the shape of the U.S. They decide to assassinate some older Senators and Congressmen. Among other things they blame on them is  lining their pockets while the national debt soars. The leader of the group has his own personal reasons. The group is careful not to kill any secret service bodyguards.

A freshman congressman who now regrets getting into politics says he’s done after one term. He even hangs up on the President saying he didn’t have time to talk to him. He thinks he knows who is behind the murders.

Now two more assassinations are carried out. But this time secret service and marine guards are killed. A second group is at work. The CIA,FBI and NSA are all in the hunt for the assassins.

The paperback version is 612 pages long but moves fast and is so good it could have been longer.  You’ll get totally absorbed in it.

Flynn died of prostate cancer when he was only forty-seven.

About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.
