About vintage45

I'm a big fan of vintage books, movies,TV shows and music. I encourage everyone to patronize your local used book/record store and pick up some of the good stuff. My posts are capsule reviews of some favorites that you may want to investigate. The albums posted aren't really reviews but items from my collection that are still available. I try and point out highlights of each one and let the music speak for itself. Thanks to all for checking out the blog.

I have enjoyed your blog. Thank you.

  2. I have also enjoyed your blog. Thank you for your showing us readers vintage finds in films, books, etc. through the years.

  3. So sad to hear you are leaving, but I just want to thank you for your tireless efforts in bringing to attention what I often refer to as “the forgotten culture”. It’s alarming how rapidly, especially with that most disappointing of promising research tools (the Internet) at our disposal, how the treasure that is our archival cultural past is shamelessly compromised by a creeping lethargy that dissociates popular enthusiasm away from anything outside of the trendy present. Jazz, big band music, radio, film and early television and esoteric cinema (and more) have all found a champion in you and your efforts are recognized and much cherished. I, for one, will miss those efforts, and will continue to resource your work with great enjoyment, I wish you the best.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Many years ago I was involved with Big Bands and Nostalgia and got to meet numerous legends. Friends that were involved in it all with me have large
music collections and lament that we’re the few who still listen to it. The same goes for the movies, books and TV. Blogs like yours are a huge help in keeping it alive. We’re all hoping radio stations and schools wake up about a disappearing heritage but we are not holding are breaths. Again, thanks for your words. It made it all worthwhile.
